Pão Caseiro/ Pão de Casa (Sweet-Potato Bread)

Pão Caseiro/ Pão de Casa (Sweet-Potato Bread)

Boil the potato and grate it. Afterwards, on a wooden basin, place the flour with a hole in the middle, where you put the baker’s yeast. Add warm water seasoned with salt and the potato. Mix with your fists until the dough is elastic.  Afterwards, cover with a towel and leave to rest for about 10 minutes. When it starts making “bubbles”, divide the dough into ordinary bread shaped portions.  Leave it to ferment for more or less 1 hour in a white towel and place a blanket over the towel for the bread to rest. When, by touching with a finger, the dough gives away, bake it for 30 minutes in a very hot oven. When putting the bread in the oven, the traditional prayer is the following: “Take what is yours”. Despite the effort being great, during the kneading the person who kneads cannot drink water.
